    This article is mainly analysis the relation of Shen cong-wen and urban culture: Beijing culture and Shanghai culture. In 1923 year Shen cong-wen had arrived Beijing, in Beijing have lived about 13 years. Shen cong-wen unavoidablely had received a great influence of Beijing culture. As a observer of Beijing city, he vivdly depicts the city of Beijing and the people of Beijing.
    In 1928 year, Shen cong-wen had arrived Shanghai, in Shanghai have lived about 3 years. Also, Shen cong-wen unavoidablely had received a great influence of Shanghai culture. As a observer of Shanghai city, he vividly depicts the city of Shanghai and the people of Shanghai.
    The dissertation comprise of seven chapters:
    Chapter 1 depicts Shen cong-wen and the city of Beijing;
    Chapter 2 the city of Beijing and the people of Beijing which Shen cong-wen had described;
    Chapter 3 the country memory and imagination which Beijing culture had aroused;
    Chapter 4 depicts Shen cong-wen and the city of Shanghai;
    Chapter 5 the city of Shanghai and the people of Shanghai which Shen cong-wen had described;
    Chapter 6 the country memory and imagination which Shanghai culture had aroused;
