Digital evidence imaging has been developed and advanced for computer forensics technologies which have focusing on finding potential evidence from computing devices taken from suspects by authorities with jurisdiction. Since that time, the main research has focused on disk images which have been made from images of the original hard disk.
Moreover, as society has grown, the importance of digital evidence from various crimes has increased. Therefore, more effective systems to maintain and manage digital evidence such as imaging of evidence are required. For this reason, a method using a digital archiving system based on the International Standard OAIS model, ISO as a new archiving method for digital evidence imaging, has been required. However, digital evidence imaging is a technology which is developed in computer forensic investigation, carried out by software supporting disk imaging. Its components for format include hard disk data and meta data, but as this kind of digital evidence imaging is not equipped with meta data for the OAIS model, which limits the application of a digital archiving system. Therefore, digital evidence imaging meta data, supporting an archiving system with digital evidence imaging is necessary
This paper intends to perform research on trends in international standards and domestic and overseas meta data for electronic recording, analyze the structure of digital evidence imaging formast and its meta data, and compare and analyze digital evidence imaging meta data, for international standard, domestic, and overseas meta data. Through these procedures, this paper proposes forming digital evidence imaging meta data that satisfies the OAIS model.
