국문 초록 (Abstract)

연구자의 작품 제목 ‘From the Nature Series’에서 알 수 있듯이 생성과 소멸을 반복하는 생명력 가득한 자연의 이미지는 창작의 가장 주요한 모티브이며 내면세계를 인식하는 수단으로서 이를 통해 인간의 삶을 투영하고 거기에 진정한 실존적 가치를 부여하고자 한다.
먼저 연구자에게 영향을 준 작가로는 반 고흐, 구스타프 클림트를 손꼽을 수 있는데 고흐의 삶과 생명에 대한 열정이 투영된 표현주의적 자연 이미지와 클림트의 장식적인 곡선은 자연 이미지를 통해 삶과 내면세계를 심상적으로 표현하려는 연구자의 의도와 맥락을 같이 한다.
작품의 내용과 형식은 크게 세 가지로 특징지을 수 있다.
첫째, 낭만적이고 심정적인 바로크적 시-공간감이다. 연구자의 작품은 2차원의 공간이지만 공간감의 확장을 위해 캔버스 천을 뒤집어 뒷면을 앞면으로 사용하고 붓질을 반복해 스며드는 배경을 만든 후 떨어지는 꽃잎이나 꽃가루의 흩날림 등으로 시간성을 표현했다.
둘째, 슈나벨로 대표되는 뉴페인팅과의 연계성이다. 뉴페인팅이 현대 사회의 위기 속에서 실존적 자아를 찾기 위한 표현성으로 새로운 구상을 모색했다면 연구자는 자연 이미지로 유년기, 청소년기, 장년기, 노년기의 삶을 상징적으로 표현하고자 하였다.
셋째, 드로잉과 색에 대한 탐구이다. 선은 아주 중요한 요소로서 드로잉 작업으로 생긴 율동감과 자율성 즉, 흘림과 번짐의 효과는 삶의 역동성을 상징하며 흐트러진 불규칙적 요소들은 무의식적 몰아의 세계로 인도하기도 한다. 또한 색채는 작위적(作爲的) 동작의 상황을 더욱 극적으로 이끌면서 생명의 상징과 상상력을 이끌어 내는 역할을 한다.
연구자의 작업 과정은 자연 이미지를 통해 자아를 표현함과 동시에 살아가면서 남긴 발자취, 요컨대 시작과 끝, 안식, 고요, 충동, 시끄러움, 변화를 상징화 한 것이다. 즉, 흔적을 남기는 작업의 과정은 자아의 표현이면서 삶의 순환 과정인 것이다. 자연과 생명에 대한 관조와 사색을 통해 자연 이미지는 단순한 재현이 아니라 내면에 존재하는 아련한 경험적 공간으로 상징화되었으며 이러한 표현, 즉 반복적인 붓질과 드로잉의 흔적들은 역동성, 생동감, 희망 등의 이미지가 되어 인생의 4단계를 의미하고 있다. 본 연구는 21세기의 삶에서 미학적 실존을 찾기 위한 자아성찰(自我省察)의 과정인 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As well known from the title of my work ‘From the Nature Series’, the image in the nature full of life repeating creation and expiration has been the most important motive of my works and I want to project the life of human being through the image of nature as means to recognize the internal world to grant true existential value there.
First, I would like to say that Vincent Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt have influenced me much and the expressional natural image of Gogh reflecting his living and life and decorative curse of Klimt would have the same coherence of the author of the thesis who would like to express life and inner world of the natural image.
Content and style of my works shall be largely featured in three kinds.
First, baroque time-space that is romantic and imaginary. Though my works have been made on two dimensions space, using backsides of the canvas and repeated brushing would be made for the expression of time identity with falling leaves and flying pollen after making the background.
Second, the feature of my works would be the connection with new painting that can be represented by Schunabel. As New Painting has sought new images for the expression to seek existential identity in the modern society crises, the author of the thesis has tried to express infancy, youth and adult imaginarily through natural images.
Third, my works has another special feature of investigation in drawing and color. Lines are very important element and rhythmical sense and self-management originated from drawing, the effect of flowing and spreading shall symbol the dynamic of life and disturbed irregular elements would lead to self-effacing. In addition, color will lead the situation of intention more dramatically and it plays the role to attract the symbol and imagination of life.
Processing features of my works would express the identity through the natural images and the living traces of daily starts and ends, comfort, silence, impulse, noise, and change have been symbolized. That is, the working process leaving some traces shall be the process of life and expression of the identity. The natural images through contemplation and thinking of nature and life have been symbolized as not a re-expressed ones but misty experiential space that exist in a inner space. Thus, this kinds of expressions, the traces of repeated brushing and drawing shall become the image of the dynamic, vividness, and hope, which means the fourth steps. This study shall means the process of self-reflection for the artistic existentiality in the life of 21stcentury.
