In order to examine the thermal deformation characteristics that affect the performance of dynamic cutting accuracy according to the weight variation in vertical machining center spindle, the axial displacement and radial runout of rotating spindle were measured under the condition of variable spindle speed with variable tool weight by the He-Ne laser interferometer.
As a result, the increase of tool weight affects the temperature rising, the thermal deformation, the accuracy of rotating spindle, and machining accuracy.
