This study proposes the Required Operational Capability to modify civil
AAM into military AAM and explains the modification method and
procedure. AAM will develop into an eco-friendly future transportation that
can solve urban traffic congestion and carbon emissions.
Although AAM has insufficient flight performance and payload compared to
helicopters, it has high survivability and flight safety. If future technological
advances such as hydrogen fuel cells and unmanned autonomous systems are
made, they will be fully utilized for military purposes.
To acquire AAM as a military weapon system, the concept of evolutionary
Required Operational Capability was applied to set the required level divided
into three stages: early, medium, and late. A modification plan was proposed
by dividing it into small and medium sizes, and the advantages and
disadvantages were compared by referring to past Military Commercial
Derivative Aircraft cases.
