With the aging population of 10 million, and the approaching super-aged society, the way the elderly look at their old age is also changing. Some elderly people with financial leeway have found a silver town where they can live their lives comfortably by using food, clothing and shelter and basic medical management services in order to improve the quality of their lives in old age. However, the new term "silver town refugee" has emerged in a situation where proper facilities with the elements they want cannot enter even if they have money. In order to plan proper facilities that satisfy their needs, a study on the wellness space of silver town that helps improve the quality of life by harmonizing physical and mental health and helps them age health is needed. In this study, an urban silver town wellness space was evaluated and characteristics were identified through an urban silver town wellness space analysis, and an urban silver town was planned on a lot other than 656 Jeongneung-dong.
For the actively operated silver town study, the scope of the city center was limited to downtown Seoul, and the silver town was limited to facilities that provided medical health, meals, convenience of life, safety management, and cultural and leisure services. Silver town and wellness are considered through theoretical consideration and the definitions and components of wellness claimed in this paper are summarized. After that, the expression of the wellness space in the silver town is considered, and the wellness spatial analysis elements are derived through Sun Heng research. After grasping the current status of urban silver town in Seoul, selecting cases, classifying the wellness space according to the six components of wellness summarized above, and evaluating the classified space based on the wellness spatial analysis element, the characteristics of the urban silver town wellness space and the results of the wellness spatial evaluation were derived.
As a result, there were many physical wellness spaces indoors according to the characteristics of urban silver towns, and one space became a multidimensional wellness space. Despite the limitation of the site area, an outdoor space was necessarily formed, and it was necessary to consider the formation of a working space. In addition, the current status of urban silver towns in Korea shows the demand for design that reflects the characteristics and times of the space when viewed formatively, but they are aesthetically and constructively stable. In satisfying human needs, it is functionally, psychologically satisfactory, and a safe space is being built. In terms of the spatial environment, it is convenient to use, has a space that can be used in various ways, and most of them have a comfortable environment. The design was carried out by establishing four strategies: formation of a viewing space, utilization of natural elements, formation of an integrated household space, and formation of a continuous protection system for the elderly by reflecting the results derived from the urban silver town construction plan at 656 Jeongneung-dong, where there are problems with severe slopes at the foot of Bukhansan Mountain, population outflow and aging.
This study fragmented the direction of development of residential spaces for the elderly in an ultra-aging society through urban silver town research through keywords that have recently emerged or are frequently encountered, such as 'Silvertown Refugee' and 'Wellness'. In the follow-up study, the scope of urban silver town is expanded from downtown Seoul to local city centers, and the results of research on urban silver town wellness spaces in various regions are expected to be needed.
