In the Roman Catholic Church, very cherished and one of the old traditional prayer, is the Rosary Prayer. It is a superb contemplative prayer that connects to Christ through Virgin Mary. The Rosary is a prayer that have 'Evangelical characters' as it includes the mysteries from Virgin Mary's conception to Christ's life. It also includes the 'Paschal Fruition' of Christ that was achieved through Mary.
Thus, those Christian families who prays the Rosary can not only derive abundant graces through the intercession of Mary but also can approach to Jesus Christ who is a fundamental goal of our faith.
But for many Christians, who pray the Rosary have a strong tendency of just repeating the words habitually without really trying to understand the profound, plentiful meaning and values of the prayer. This is especially seen in the new mystery, 'the Mysteries of Light' which Pope John Paul Ⅱ has introduced recently.
Therefore, I want to emboss the authentic value and importance of the Rosary. I also want to offer fundamental assistance of how the Rosary can be prayed in its more valuable way. Furthermore, I want to explain 'the Mysteries of Light', the main mystery of Christ's public ministry.
In the first chapter, the subject 'A religious meaning of light', I saw that the subject of the 'light' was applied to God and Jesus especially in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Here however, I'd like to give a brief introduction of what Father in church said about the 'Light', which is an important matter for Catholics an their liturgy itself.
In the second chapter, 'The Rosary's finding mentioned in John Paul Ⅱ's bull, Virgin Mary's Rosary(Rosarium Virginis Mariae)', I explained the general consideration of the Rosary. I also investigated the origin and historical development of the Rosary and the pontifical instructions about the prayer. It also includes about the intention and the consequence of its own. Moreover, it talks about the essence of the Rosary when it is prayed with deep contemplation and profound meaning.
So the essence of the Rosary for those who really and seriously pray it are: 'Learning Christ from Mary', 'Being conformed to Christ with Mary', 'Praying to Christ with Mary', 'Proclaiming Christ with Mary'.
And finally, in the third chapter, I suggest what ' The Mysteries of Light' really mean and what one should meditate upon when we pray the bundles of the mysterer of light. This mystery is about Christ's proclamation of the Kingdom of God during His public ministry, as found in the Gospel. It has the following five mysteries:
1. His Baptism in Jordan-River.
2. His self-manifestation at the wedding of Cana.
3. His proclamation of the kingdom of God (with his call to conversion).
4. His transfiguration, and finally
5. His institution of the 'Holy Eucharist', as the sacramental expression of the Paschal Mystery.
I wanted to reveal that Christ is the 'truthful light' in the world and redeems all mankind who are wondering in the dark.
By understanding all these things, one will be able to know that the Rosary is a great prayer, which has the capacity to lead one to know Christ deeply. Moreover, in the Rosary we are able to realize, how Mary, all through Her life concentrated on listening to 'The Father', 'The Son', and 'The Holy Spirit'. Also, we are able to confirm the truth that we are called to a more profound and lofty dimensional of Christian perfection by honoring Mary, who lived Her life for Christ.
