My work focuses on visually revealing the relationship between the subject, the persona, and the Other, grounded in the materiality of media and repetitive actions such as weaving, splicing, and layering. The actions performed during the creative process form points of contact and distance by either connecting elements or arranging them while leaving deliberate gaps. The subtle crevices emerging in between resonate with the structure of lack experienced by the subject in the process of relating to the Other. These installed elements visualize the margin created when desire moves toward an unreachable object, revealing a process in which relationships are not fixed in a constant form but are continuously displaced and renegotiated. These gaps are not merely empty spaces; rather, they serve as a potential field for the subject's repositioning while exposing the inherent tensions within the relationship.
Repetitive action is not a performance aimed at a finalized result; rather, it is a mode of recognizing and embracing the void left by lack. Accordingly, my work does not originate from an attempt to eliminate or overcome this deficiency. Instead, it approaches lack as a foundational condition for relationships, exploring how the positions of the subject, the persona, and the Other shift within that space. My work demonstrates that lack serves as a catalyst for the reconstitution of the subject, visually articulating the process by which this tripartite relationship moves toward a state of balance.
Through this analysis, this study demonstrates that lack is not a deficiency that imposes negativity on the subject, but rather an element that enables the subject to reconfigure itself. Within the relationship with the Other, the subject experiences how the persona is manifested and operates. The lack encountered in this process serves as a catalyst for the subject to redefine its position, allowing it to continually reshape its own mode of constitution within these gaps. This progression demonstrates that the subject is not a static entity but one that continuously reconfigures its position within relationships.
Ultimately, my work visually manifests the tripartite relationship between the subject, the persona, and the Other as they perpetually seek balance, suggesting that a relationship is not a fixed system but is established through a process of constant attunement.
