국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 보고서는 ?청소년멘토링 활성화 방안 연구(기본보고서 12-R10)?의 일환으로 추진된 청소년 멘토링 시범사업 성과를 정리한 것이다. 본 연구의 목적은 청소년들의 자원봉사활동 참여의 문제점을 극복하고 사회참여를 활성화하기 위한 대안으로 청소년들이 멘토로 참여하는 청소년또래멘토링 시범사업을 운영하고 그 효과성을 검증하기 위한 것으로 2011년부터 1년 6개월간 추진한 시범사업 성과를 정리·분석하였다.
청소년또래멘토링은 성인멘토-청소년멘티로 이루어지는 일반적 멘토링 유형에 비해 특히 청소년멘토의 성장과 발달에 긍정적인 효과를 준다는 점에서 청소년 자원봉사활동 등 청소년활동의 하나로 활성화 가능성이 큰 프로그램으로, 여성가족부는 본 연구의 2차년도 연구인 2011년도 청소년또래멘토링 시범사업 성과를 활용하여 2012년 5월부터 청소년또래멘토링 봉사활동인 ?DoVol?을 운영하기 시작한 바 있다.
본 연구가 개발한 청소년또래멘토링 운영모델이 정책화되어 확산되고 있는 시점에서 청소년또래멘토링 시범사업 운영과정을 모니터링하고 그 과정에서 발생하는 문제점과 효과적인 운영에 필요한 요인을 파악하여 청소년또래멘토링의 확산과 운영 개선에 도움을 줄 필요가 있다.
시범사업 결과, 운영기관들은 청소년멘토링을 통해 멘티인 저소득가정 아동이 사회정서적 측면과 학업태도 등에서 도움을 받았고 멘토로 활동한 청소년들 또한 책임감과 성취감, 인간관계면에서 긍정적인 효과가 있었다고 평가하였다. 더불어 청소년또래멘토링 사업 확산 및 운영개선을 위해 멘토와 멘티 모집과 선정, 결연, 활동프로그램, 교육, 매뉴얼, 관련기관 연계, 모니터링과 평가 등 다양한 영역에서 시사점을 제공해 주었다.
또한 시범사업 결과에 대한 양적·질적 분석을 통해 청소년멘토링이 멘티와 멘토의 성장과 발달에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 과학적으로 검증해 내었으며, 청소년멘토링에 영향을 주는 요인을 파악함으로써 청소년멘토링의 성공적 운영에 필요한 과제를 제시하였다.

This report is a summary of the result of youth mentoring pilot projects that was conducted as a part of ?A Study on the activation of Youth Mentoring (Report 12-R10)? The goal of this research is to run youth peer mentoring pilot projects which young people take part in as mentors to overcome the problems from volunteer activities of youth, to activate social participation and to prove its effectiveness, analysing the results of the six pilot projects conducted for 18 months since 2011.
Youth peer mentoring has great possibility to be activated as one of the youth activities in a matter of giving positive effects on the growth and development of youth mentors than ?the adult mentor-youth mentee? mentoring types. Ministry of Gender Equality and Family made a good use of the results of the youth peer mentoring pilot projects in 2011 and started to run ?DoVol?, the youth peer mentoring volunteer activity since May, 2012.
At the moment that the youth peer mentoring model developed by this research is being spreaded and settled, it is needed to figure out problems and factors that are occurred during monitoring the operation process of the youth peer mentoring pilot projects and necessary for effective operation to spread and improve the operation of the youth peer mentoring.
As the results of the pilot projects, the staffs in charge evaluated that mentee who are in low income families were helped in social and emotional aspects of the academic attitude by the youth mentoring program, and the youth who played roles as mentors have effectively achieved the sense of responsibility, accomplishment, and a positive effect in relationships. In addition, for wide spread and operational improvements of the youth peer mentoring program, many implications were offered in plenty areas such as mentors, recruitment and selection of mentors, relationships, activity programs, training, manuals, inter-organizational network, and monitoring and evaluation.
Moreover, through the quantitative and qualitative analysis on the results of the pilot projects, youth mentoring was scientifically verified to be effective on the growth and development of mentee and mentors, and to figure out the factors that affects on youth mentoring. It was suggested that the tasks are needed to achieve successful youth mentoring.
