    The rate of respiration of growing cells of the root tip was studying in Ginkgo biloba seedlings. The cells occured in different phases of growing from the meristem to the mature in the zones chosen. The zones was the initials portion, the primary meritstem portion, and the differentiation of enlargement portion, and may be cutted by the 0-1, 1-2, 2-3mm segments from the apical portion of the root tip.
    (1) The each zone was cultured in White solution with plant growth substance, IAA. GA. IAA+GA.
    (2) The cultured each zone was measured the consumption of oxygen by the Warburgs' manometer.
    (3) The Qo_1 was greatest in the enlargement portion(2-3mm) and lowest in the initials portion(0-1mm).
    (4) The Qo_2 of treatment of comparison with untreatment control of growth substance was greatest in the enlargement portion, but lowest in the primary meristem portion.
    (5) The effects on growth substances to Qo_2 depended on nucleocytoplamic ratio and metabolic activity.
