국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 한미동맹의 미래를 예측하기 위한 것으로서, 지난 70여 년 동안 유지되어 온 한미동맹의 효용을 분석하는 것이다. 냉전 초기에 결성된 한미동맹은 탈냉전이라는 새로운 환경 속에서 이론적 차원에서 많은 모순을 나타내고 있으며, 또한 동맹을 둘러싼 환경적 요인에 따라 여러 변화 가능성이 포착되어진다.
이 글에서는 정치 · 군사적 요인과 사회·경제적 제 요인을 종합적으로 검토함으로써 한미동맹의 효용을 종합적으로 이해하기 위한 인식틀을 제공하고자 하였다. 동맹은 기본적으로 외부의 군사적 위협에 공동으로 대응하는 것을 목표로 하지만 그 효용을 평가하기 위해서는 다양한 변수에 대한 평가와 함께 각 변수가 서로에 미치는 영향을 종합적으로 이해하는 것이 필요하다.
따라서 이 연구의 목표는 동맹의 효용에 대한 포괄적인 사고와 기준을 마련하기 위한 공통의 이해를 확보하는 것이다. 결과적으로 이 글에서는 한미동맹의 효용을 구성하는 개별 변수에 대한 실증적 분석의 정확성을 제공하기보다는 동맹의 효용에 대한 인식을 제공하는 데 집중하였다. 이러한 인식을 기반으로 향후 각 변수에 대한 상세한 분석과 정밀한 계산이 이루어지기를 바란다.

The purpose of this study is to predict the future development of the ROK-U.S. alliance based on the analysis of the present utility of the ROK-US alliance, which has been maintained for nearly 70 years since the beginning of the ROK-U.S. alliance in 1953. In the current ROK-U.S. alliance, various contradictions are found in various theoretical dimensions and many environmental factors for the alliance, and there are many possibilities for change.
In this paper, it was intended to examine the utility of the ROK-U.S. alliance through a comprehensive review of political and military factors and socio-economic factors. Basically, an alliance aims to jointly respond to external military threats, but in order to evaluate its utility, the evaluation of various variables and the influence of each variable on each other should not be overlooked.
The key goal of this study is to secure a common understanding to prepare a comprehensive thinking and standards for the utility of the alliance. Therefore, rather than the accuracy of empirical analysis of individual variables, I tried to create a framework for how the utility of the ROK-U.S. alliance changes with time and environment. In the future, research on the ROK-U.S. alliance remains a task in terms of Northeast Asian security through a detailed analysis including all these variables and analysis results remains a task.
