    노인의 빈곤, 불건강 및 심리적 소외로 인해 고령사회의 노인부양 문제는 더 심각해진다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 노인문제를 발생시키는 구조적 요인들에 접근해야 한다. 세계화에 따른 노동세계의 변화, 가족의 변화에 대응하여 복지국가의 사회권 보장 수준을 높여야 하는 것이다. 이에 현재의 노년세대와는 다른 사회문화적 특성을 갖는 베이비붐 세대의 정치적 역할이 중요하게 부각된다. 노년세대의 빈곤과 불평등은 생애주기를 통해 누적된 불평등의 결과로서 교육과 소득활동의 불평등 문제와 함께 접근해야 한다. 따라서 통합적인 생애주기 접근을 가능하게 하는 보편적인 국가복지의 책임을 강조하는 것이 필요하다. 이는 또한 세대간 연대를 통한 경제적 민주화의 과제이기도 하다. 한국의 정치적 민주화 과정을 체험하고 주도한 주체로서 베이비붐 세대의 집단역량을 동원하여 고령사회의 문제를 함께 풀어갈 세대간 연대를 구축해야 한다.

    The problem of supporting senior citizens in the aged society has become more critical with the poverty, unhealthiness and psychological alienation of the aged. To solve that problems it needs to approach the structural causes that has raised the problems of the aged. The standard of social security coping with the changes of labor market, of family must be improved. The political role of the baby boom generation is being magnified at this point. Its socio-cultural characteristics are quite different from the previous generations. The poverty and inequality of the older generation is the cumulative effects of life-cycle inequality and therefore the problems of educational inequality and that of economic activities and income. The current situation emphasizes the national responsibility in the shape of universal welfare state that facilitates the integrated alternatives for life-cycle approach. It is also an urgent problem for economic democratization by the inter-generation solidarity. The baby boom generation was the main group in the political struggle for Korean democracy. Its group empowerment should be mobilized again for generational solidarity to solve the problems of the aged society.
