다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Korean EFL learners interpret the creative compound hammerhead. In this paper, the analysis of hammerhead based on conceptual blending theory is presented and reviewed. Then the interpretations of hammerhead by 100 college students in Korea are analyzed in the framework of the prismatic model, a tool in the field of cognitive linguistics. The research shows that some students perform semantic abstraction and expansion by using metaphor and metonymy while others just remain to use the literal meanings of the constituents. It shows that the prismatic model is effective to analyze compositionality and analyzability of the exocentric compounds like hammerhead. (Chungnam National UniversityㆍGeumgang University)
