        한국어 듣기 교육 자료의 음운론적 측면에서의구어성 연구: 준말을 중심으로

        The study attempts to investigate the reduced forms as the phonological features of the orality of spoken Korean in Korean as a Second Language teaching materials for listening. 103,333 words of Sejong Corpus are utilized for the data for the spoken language of Korean native speakers, and 19,830 words of listening texts of 16 KSL textbooks are used for the data for KSL teaching materials. The presentation of the reduced forms in the two data is turned out to be varied in accordance with the types of the reduced forms. First, the reduced forms formulated within a word display a low frequency compared to their counterparts, the full forms. Second, in the case of the reduced forms formulated with indeclinable part of speech, cheeon and other items, the reduced forms consisted of pronouns+particle frequently are presented. Those with dependent nouns+particles, however, present a similar frequency as their counterparts, and those with particle+particle and noun+particle display a low frequency. Third, in the case of the words with conjugated endings, yongeon+endings, the reduced forms are predominantly used. (Pukyong National University)

        An Overview: American Television Series as Authentic Resources for English Language Development

        How can English language learners (ELLs) increase their exposure to spoken English while studying English in their home country? How can they prepare themselves to understand spoken English while traveling abroad? What should EFL teachers do to encourage their students to practice listening outside of the classroom? American television series (AMTVS) are a popular medium of studying English for ELLs worldwide due to their perceived authenticity. AMTVS are more accessible now with the advent of Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube. Instructors worldwide use AMTVS in the classroom to increase engagement and expose their students to a variety of linguistic features in English. The use of closed-captions increases ELLs’ vocabulary, and improves their informal, figurative, and formulaic language acquisition as well as their listening and reading comprehension. Teachers can incorporate AMTVS into their listening instruction to expose ELLs in EFL settings to a variety of language conventions such as grammar, reduced speech, contractions, and various accents. This paper provides an overview of the variety of teaching points that instructors of ELLS can integrate into their classrooms for more context-based and enriched instruction. The linguistic challenges that educators must consider are discussed. This article concludes with the myriad of teaching and learning opportunities available that can help ELLs’ English language development.

        선호 음악 감상이 수술 전 환자 불안과 활력징후에 미치는 효과

        본 연구는 선호 음악 감상이 수술 전환자의 불안과 활력증후에 미치는 효과를 규명할 목적으로 실험 전과 후 변화 값에 대한 차이를 검증하는 유사 실험연구로서 비동등성 대조군 전후 시차 설계이다. 연구대상은 실험군 12명과 대조군12명으로 실험군은 수술 당일 아침 병실출발 직전에 활력징후를 측정한 후 선호하는 음악 감상하게 하여 마취직전까지 총 2시간 동안 음악 감상을 하게 한 직 후 불안정도와 활력증후를 측정하였으며 대조군은 침상에 누워 편안하게 휴식을 취하에 하였다. 수집된 데이터는 SPSS/WIN 12.0 program로 분석한 결과 불안정도는 실험군에서만 유의한 차이로 감소하였고 이완기혈압은 10.25mmHg감소하였으나 유의 수준에 미치지 못하였다. 기질불안, 수축기혈압, 맥박, 호흡정도에서는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 요약하자면, 선호 음악 감상은 수술 전 환자의 심리적 불안감소를 위한 비침습적 중재방안으로 사용이 가능하며 이완기 혈압감소를 위한 중재방안으로 사용하기 위해서는 약물 등 외생변수통제 후 반복연구 해볼 것을 제언하고자 한다. Ther purpose of the study was to test the effects of listening to music on psychological anxiety and pysiological vital signs among pre-operative patients.. A non-equivalent control group with pre and post-test design was used for the study. Subjects were 24 pre-operative patients waiting for surgery at C University hospital in J City, South Korea. The 12 study group had listened to preferred music continually from the ward to the operation room for 2 hours while the 12 control group had been on bed rest. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(Spielberger, 1975)and vital signs(Pulse, Blood Pressure) were employed before and after testing. The study found that listening to music was significantly effective on intervening anxiety level in study group but not in control group. However vital signs were not intervened in both groups. To conclude, listening to preferred music was a possible therapy for psychological but not for physiological intervention.

        A System of Contexts for the Analysis of Electroacoustic Music

        A system of contexts for the analysis of electroacoustic music is introduced. Four different types of context are considered and taken as the basic components of a theoretical system for musical analysis. On the one hand, there is the context defined by the work itself, made up of all the sounds, structures, events and sound objects that are part of the piece and whose organization allows the work to be identified as such, as a unit. On the other hand, there is the context formed by all the baggage of knowledge, experiences, expectations, beliefs and assessment criteria that the listener has built or acquired prior to listening to the piece of music. Two types of sub-contexts within the piece are also taken into consideration, the one defined by isolated sounds and that defined by musical segments encompassing several sounds. To explore the interactions between these contexts eight types of relationships between them are defined and examples of how they operate in real musical pieces are given. A multitude of usual terms and concepts in musical analysis such as reduced listening, fractality, sound, musical piece, musical style, etc. are reviewed in light of these interactions.
