This study is a descriptive research study to understand the relationship between professional autonomy, moral distress, and nursing performance of nurses working in cancer wards, and to identify factors affecting nursing performance of nurses in cancer wards. The subjects of the study were conveniently extracted from 180 nurses with more than 6 months of experience in nursing cancer patients receiving chemotherapy treatment at a university hospital in Gyeonggi-do. The data collection period was from July 11, 2022 to July 29, 2022, when the clinical research review committee of the medical institution where the study was conducted, and a self-fill survey was conducted by distributing structured questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS window 21.0 statistical program. The reliability of the measurement tool was analyzed using Cronbach's alpha. The general characteristics of the subject, the subject's professional autonomy, moral distress, and nursing performance were analyzed by technical statistics. Professional autonomy, moral distress, and nursing performance according to the general characteristics of the subject were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA, and post-test was analyzed by Scheffé test. The factors influencing professional autonomy and moral distress on nursing performance were analyzed using regression analysis. As a result of the study, the subject's professional autonomy was 2.65 points out of 5, moral distress was 2.83 points, and nursing performance was 3.75 points. As a result of analyzing professional autonomy, moral distress, and nursing performance according to general characteristics such as gender, marital status, religious status, position, and total clinical experience, there was no statistically significant difference in professional autonomy. Nurses over the 3rd year were found to have higher moral distress than nurses under 1~3 years, and nursing performance was higher when married, responsible nurse or more, and when total clinical experience was more than 5 years. As a result of verifying the regression model to confirm the factors affecting the subject's nursing performance, it was statistically significant, and the total explanatory power was 23.8%. Clinical experience and professional autonomy were significant influencing factors on nursing performance. Based on the results of this study, a strategy is needed to develop and support individual nurses' nursing capabilities through the development of a career development system within the nursing organization to improve the nursing performance of cancer ward nurses. These efforts will have a positive effect on the management of human resources of nursing organizations as well as on the improvement of nursing performance of nurses in cancer wards.

Purpose : Although hospital nurses work in the same environment and care for the same patients, there are variations in terms of nursing performance. Determining nursing performance is an important way of providing quality care in clinical settings. This can aid in identifying the influence of job crafting and job embeddedness on the nursing performance of nurses in medium-sized hospitals as well as in providing basic data to enable increased nursing performance. Methods : This descriptive correlational study examined the degree of job crafting, job embeddedness, and nursing performance among hospital nurses to ascertain the relationships between these variables and their effects on nursing performance. The study participants were 170 nurses from small and medium-sized hospitals in G city. The data were collected from April 11 to 31, 2024, using structured self-reported questionnaires. The SPSS/WIN 25.0 program was used to analyze the data. Results : Depending on the overall amount of clinical experience, the nursing performance score varied, albeit above the median level (F = 2.337, p< .041). Nursing performance had a significant positive correlation with job crafting (r = 0.424, p< .001) and job embeddedness (r = 0.557, p< .001). The regression analysis confirmed that job crafting (ß = 0.267, p< .001) and job embeddedness (ß = 0.613, p< .001) were influential factors in the hospital nurses’ nursing performance. This model explained 31%. Conclusion : Job crafting and job embeddedness were found to be important factors affecting the nursing performance of hospital nurses. Hospital nurses are encouraged to bolster nursing performance in terms of satisfaction with job crafting and job embeddedness, and nursing managers should prioritize the strengthening of job crafting and job embeddedness among hospital nurses. Furthermore, it will be necessary to develop educational programs aimed at enhancing nursing performance.

Sei-Myoung Han,Hyoung-Joon Park,Jae-Hyeon Cho,Chung-Hui Kim 한국예방수의학회 2024 예방수의학회지 Vol.48 No.2
Nursing research in veterinary hospitals is critical to the work of veterinary nursing and is necessary for continued advancements that promote optimal nursing care. Since the work of veterinary nursing involves animals with whom communication is difficult, the level of work performance can vary greatly depending on the experience, knowledge, and abilities of each animal nurse. In addition, veterinary nursing might establish a successful work environment through collaboration with veterinarians, and smooth work cooperation and communication among hospital members are direct factors in improving the work performance of animal hospitals. Because the work of nursing shows significant differences in performance depending on the individual, much research is being conducted to develop tools to measure work performance in the veterinary nursing field of medical assistants. In the present study, we attempted to develop a work performance measurement tool that is useful and suitable for veterinary nursing using the Delphi method. As a result of this study, an 18-item questionnaire was developed to measure the work performance of veterinary nursing, and these evaluation items were found to have excellent suitability in terms of content and construct validity. The evaluation scale of work performance of animal nurses developed through this study is believed to be useful in evaluating work performance in terms of work performance ability, attitude, and work performance relationship. Additionally, it is considered that the results of this study can be actively used to understand and develop the work relationships of veterinary nursing.

The purpose of this study was to assess how job stress affects the nursing performance of emergency room nurses. Data were collected from 210 emergency room nurses at 20 general hospitals, with more than 200 beds, in Pusan, Taegu and Kungbuk province, between October 5 and October 15, 1998. The instruments used for this study were the job stress scale which was developed by Mae Ja, Kim and Mi Ok, Gu(1984), and nursing performance of nurses scale developed by Ki Ae, chung(1989). Data Analysis was done using t-test, ANOVA, Tukey test, and Pearson Correlation. The result were as follows : 1. The highest rank of job stress items emergency room nursing were as follows with lessening order : when physicians delegate their clinical responsibilities to nurses(M=3.12±0.69). The most stressed factor among the nursing works was reported as night duty(M=2.99±0.87). 2. The mean score of nursing performance items, to prevent patient from falling or other injury(M=3.69±0.50). 3. Our study reveals that there was statistically significant negative correlation relationship between stress level and emergency room nursing performance(r=-0.14, p=0.0454), in other words, the more stress the nurses experienced, the weaker their nursing performance became. Two factors, heavy work load(r=0.30, p=0.0001), and poor compensation(r=0.15, p=0.031), were negatively related to nursing performance. 4. The study revealed that the group withy monthly income experienced less stress(F=2.71, p=0.0461). Also, the degree of stress was significantly lower in the group with work experience(F=3.01, p=0.0313). Stress varied according to position : superintendent nurse showed a lower level of stress than lay nurses and change nurses (F=2.93, p=0.0349). 5. There was significant difference in the degree of nursing performance according to religion(F=3.97, p=0.0088). In conclusion, there was statistically significant negative correlations between job stress and nursing performance. so there is need for special consideration in nursing administration in terms of reducing the job stress in emergency nursing. Suggestions based on this study as follows. 1. Further study is necessary to examine variables that influence job stress and nursing performance. 2. The expermental study is needed for an effectiveness of systematic and individual effort in order to reduce or manage nurses' stress in the emergency room.
