보고서 진행 단계 및 수준에 따른 대학생의 학술적 보고서 제목 특성

본 연구는 대학생의 학술적 보고서 제목에 나타나는 특성을 분석하는 데 목표를 두었다. 특히 보고서 작성의 일반적인 단계인 ‘계획하기-집필하기-수정하기’에 따라 보고서 제목에 어떤 특성이 나타나는지 알아보고자 하였고, 보고서 제목 작성 수준을 ‘상-중-하’로 나누어 각 수준별 특성을 찾고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 대학에 재학 중인 대학생 130명이 작성한 보고서 제목 390개를 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 또한 ‘구체성, 표현, 간결성, 수준’의 네 가지 범주 및 여덟 가지 세부 항목을 설정하여 보고서 제목 분석 기준을 마련하였다. 분석 결과, 먼저 글의 진행 단계에 따라 보고서 제목이 나아지는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 학생들이 제목에 자신의 관점을 담거나 적절한 표현으로 제목을 작성하는 것은 ‘수정’ 단계에서도 어려워한다는 것을 확인하였다. 글의 ‘계획’ 단계와 ‘집필’ 단계에서 객관화되어 표현되지 않은 제목과 명사형으로 종결되지 않은 제목의 경우 다른 문제점들도 내포하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 제목 작성 수준별로도 제목의 특성에 차이를 보이는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이중 ‘하’ 수준 집단은 객관화되지 않은 제목, 대학 보고서 수준에 맞지 않은 제목을 작성하는 것으로 나타났으며, ‘상’과 ‘중’ 수준 집단은 제목에 자신의 관점을 반영하여 작성하는 데 어려움을 겪는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 글의 진행 단계 중 ‘수정’ 단계에서 산출되는 보고서 제목과 ‘상’ 수준에 해당하는 제목이 간결성을 어기는 경우가 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 이와 같은 문제점을 바탕으로 대학생 대상으로 학술적 보고서 제목을 교육할 때의 주안점을 제언하였다. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of academic report titles created by undergraduate students. Specifically, this paper investigates how these characteristics vary across the typical stages of report writing—planning, drafting, and revising—and categorizes the titles into three proficiency levels: high, medium, and low. A total of 390 report titles, written by 130 undergraduates attending a university in Seoul, were the subject of investigation and the analysis framework was established based on four main categories—specificity, expression, conciseness, and academic capability—along with eight detailed criteria. The results indicate that report titles improve as the writing process progresses. However, even during the revision stage, students struggled to incorporate their perspectives and to use appropriate expressions in their titles. It appeared that titles which were not objectively expressed or did not end in nominal forms during the planning and drafting stages were found to contain other issues. Additionally, there were noticeable differences in the characteristics of titles based on academic capability levels. The 'low' proficiency group tended to write titles, which were not objective and did not meet the academic standards of university-level reports. In contrast, students in the 'high' and 'medium' proficiency groups found it challenging to reflect their perspectives in the titles. Notably, titles generated during the revision stage and those classified as 'high' proficiency often failed to maintain conciseness. Based on these findings, the study suggests focal points for educating undergraduates on crafting academic report titles.

SoundLab and Electroacoustic Music in Hong Kong

The paper introduces SoundLab, a 3D spatial audio research and practice unit at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong, co-directed by PerMagnus Lindborg and Ryo Ikeshiro, and serves as a progress report. It begins with a description and its objectives involving research, artwork, teaching and outreach. It then gives a brief account of the local context of electroacoustic music in Hong Kong both in academia and in independent music and art scenes to which SoundLab aims to contribute through its activities. The overview is partly based on preliminary findings from an ongoing study based on interviews with local musicians and artists. It is followed by the design of a hemispherical loudspeaker array dedicated to high spatial resolution audio, developed after consulting a number of academic institutions with comparable facilities and programmes. Details concerning the space, equipment and usage are considered. Future plans in relation to its objectives are given in closing.
