The purpose of this study is to research the dental anthropological characteristics based on dental data of many ethnic groups in Eurasia. The groups of research subjects are Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Kyrgyzs, Tajiks, Turks, Mongol people, Russians and Koreans. Owing to the great chemical preservation, the teeth are the most remained in archaeological sites including human fossils. Human teeth reflect not only the genetic characteristics, but also the cultural state including dietary life, so the change in dental shape becomes important data for indirectly understanding the state of cultural change. The dental anthropological characteristics could be variously shown according to environmental or general influences, and this characteristic could be used as the index that shows the biological-anthropological characteristics of a specific ethnic group. Thus, it is used as important information for researches that estimate the moving path of a specific ethnic group or reveal the genetic kinship. The appearance rate of shovel-shaped teeth which is an important biological anthropological index of Mongoloid shown in teeth among many ethnic groups of Eurasia, was the highest in Northeast Asian group such as Mongol people and Koreans. On the other hand, the Carabelli’s cusp which is the indexical characteristic of Europeans was the highest in Kazakhs. And the frequency of distal trigonid crest and deflecting wrinkle was highly shown in Northeast Asian group, which reflects differences between ethnic groups. In this study, the Kazakhs of ethnic groups in Centural Eurasia showed more similar dental anthropological characteristics to Koreans than the other groups. The Eurasian culture is the major foundation of the pluralistic cultural structure of East Asia. However, in order to reveal the origin and moving path of Koreans, it would be necessary to accumulate more data and also to conduct convergence researches with related studies such as archaeology, anthropology, and folklore to get more definite answers to it.

The objective of this paper is to examine the dental anthropological characteristics of minorities in Russian Siberia(Buryat) and the Far East(Nanai, Orochi, Ulchi, Udegey, Nivkh, Tungus) based on their dental data. As it is an important area getting attention from academia in relation to the origin of Korean people, it aims to provide the basic data comparable with the results of recent studies. Tooth is the data with high chemical preservation as it is the most remained in archeological remains and fossil men. Physical anthropologists research not only dead materials, but also living people, and for this, they also apply the research method through their own teeth in mirror. Also, on top of the inborn genetic characteristics, the dietary life and cultural status of the time are reflected, so that the changes in the form of tooth itself become useful data to indirectly understand the evolutionary condition of culture. The non-metric characteristics of human teeth could be diversely shown in accordance with genetic or environmental influences, and such characteristics are used as essential factors to decide the anthropometric characteristics of a certain ethnic group. Therefore, they are important information to relevant researches like physical anthropology to estimate the moving paths of ethnic groups or to reveal the relation between ethnic groups or races. Viewing the anthropometric characteristics through dental data, the non-metric characteristics shown in teeth of minorities in Siberia and the far east showed the highest frequency of shovel-shaped incisor, distal trigonid crest, and deflecting wringle which were the important dental morphological index of Mongoloid group. Also, the distal trigonid crest of the first molar in lower jaw as the dental anthropological characteristics of Korean people was frequently shown in Nanai people while the deflecting wringle of the first molar in lower jaw was frequently shown in Ulchi people. Interestingly, the dental anthropological characteristics of Tungus(Evenki) related to the Siberia origin theory were relatively low. In relation to the Siberia origin theory which is one of the origin hypotheses of Korean people, the data of surrounding Lake Baikal including Buryat and Ulchi showed closer relationship with residents of the Korean Peninsula than Tungus. However, more definite answer to this could be obtained only when researches on physical anthropology, archeology, genetics, and paleoenvironment are combined in the future.

The objective of this study is to research the dental anthropological characteristics based on the dental data of minority natives in the Arctic coast. The research subject groups include the Nenets, Komi, Eskimo, Aleut, Yakut, and Chukchi. Based on the high chemical preservability, the teeth are the most-remained data in the archeological ruins and fossil men. The biological anthropologists research not only dead materials, but also living people. For this, they even examine their own teeth with the use of mirror. As the human teeth reflect the innate genetic characteristics and also the cultural state related to dietary life, the changes in tooth shape become a useful data for indirectly understanding the evolutionary state of culture. Therefore, the morphological characteristics of human teeth could be diversely shown in accordance with the genetic or environmental influence, and these characteristics could be used as an index showing the physical anthropological characteristics of a specific ethnic group. Thus, they are used as an important data for the researches related to the biological anthropology for estimating the moving paths of a specific ethnic group or revealing the relationship between ethnic groups. The appearance ratio of the shovel-shaped teeth as an important physical anthropological index of Mongoloid, shown in the teeth of minority native groups in the Arctic coast, was the highest in the Aleut. On the other hand, the Carabelli’s cusp as the characteristic index of Europeans was the highest in the Komi. The frequency of the distal trigonid crest and the deflecting wringle was lower than the ethnic group in the far east of Russia, which showed the reflection of differences between ethnic groups. In the results of this study, out of the minority native groups in the Arctic coast, the Aleut and Eskimo showed the higher relation with the dental anthropological characteristics of Korean people, than the Nenets, Komi, and Yakut. The culture of the minority native groups in the Arctic coast is the essential foundation of pluralistic cultural structure of East Asia. This study is expected to contribute to the environmental protection of the Arctic Ocean. However, in order to discuss the formation of Korean people, there should be more continuous convergence researches for the accumulation of data to get more definite answers.

The purpose of this study is to examine morphologic changes of the teeth by era through metric and non metric investigation of the human teeth in Southern part of the Korea and inquiring into the process through which teeth of the Korean people have changed from the prehistoric to the present day, making comparisons of excavated Korean teeth with that of the modern times. Furthermore, this study examined the characteristics of Korean teeth by making comparisons with that of other, ethnic groups in the Siberia. With respect to changing measurement values by the times. it revealed that the measured length of the Crown generally tend to increase as time passes toward the modern times. Nevertheless, mesio-distal diameter and facio-lingual diameter, and the remaining items, tend to increase and decrease repeatedly on every period. and are inclined to decrease in modern times. The change in the mesio-distal dimeter of the Crown-Cervix by era is relatively slight as opposed to that of other items revealing almost no differences of times. This comparative data available for shoveling are baseed on Hrdlička’s four grade scheme. Contrasting all other ethics groups, Korean people exhibit shovel-shaped incisor, Distal trigonid crest and deflecting wringkle in relatively high frequence. Interestingly, Korean have lower frequences of Carabelli’s traits, a marked contrast to the high frequences in Westen Eurasian. Based on the distribution pattern of dental traits, the Koreans posses lineages from both a high proportion of north-east Asian population as well as south-predominent groups of east Asian populations.

The objective of this study is to research the dental anthropological characteristics based on the dental data of minority natives in the coast of Barents Sea and Kara Sea. The research subject groups include the Nenets, Komi, Obi-Ugria. The data for the study followed the classification criteria of Zubov. Among the subjects aged 6-23, ideal subjects aged 12-16 years were surveyed. A total of 9 items were investigated for the right upper jaw teeth and permanent teeth. In addition, according to Dahlberg's criteria, the Carabelli’s cusp of the upper jaw first and cusp types of the first and second upper jaw were examined. In addition, cusp patterns of the first and second molars of the lower jaw, the frequency of the distal trigonid crest and the incidence of deflecting wrinkles in the molars of the lower jaw were investigated according to the classification method of Haldeeva. In summary, it is difficult to define the dental anthropological characteristics of the Nenets in a word. Mongoloids can be classified according to their high and low characteristics. The strong Mongolian characteristics are the Kaninsky Tundra and the Kolguyev Islands. High incidence rates of shovel-shaped incisors, deflecting wrinkles, the distal trigonid crest, 6 cusp type, and Carabelli’s cusp, lower incidence of 4 cusp patterns in the molar were observed. The Kolguyevsky Nenets people are close to Kaninsky. The biggest difference between the two groups was the frequency of the four dorsal shape of the shovel-shaped front teeth, winging, and lower jaw second molars. The Kulguev Nenetsin is close to the Kaninsky Tund Line. The biggest feature of the two groups is the expression of some of the European features. The weaker Mongoloid features are found in the Bolshevik, Malazimlski, and parts of the Asian Nenets. In this area, features of shovel-shaped incisor, distal trigonid crest, and deflecting wrinkles appear weakly. The Mongolian characters is higher in the South-yamal and Zaural groups than in the Asian Nenets. The Komi-Zyryans are distinctly European and are different from the Ugrians and especially the Tundra Nenets. However, in comparison with the Russians, the appearance of shovel-shaped incisors, distal trigonid crest, and the appearance of the 6 cusp types of the lower jaw first molar were high, and the appearance of Caravelli’s cusp was somewhat lower. In the northeastern region of Europe and northwest Siberia, which are close to the polar regions, changes in the characteristics of dental anthropology are seen. This region is like a link between European-Mongolian mixed races, and it is also the starting point of Asian racial characteristics. The Ugria have a stronger Mongolian character than the Komi, but are weaker than the Nenets. Khanti and Mansi have a very high genetic affinity. The North Khanti and Mansis appear to have diverged from one another in relatively recent years, and the characteristics of the Mongoloid are stronger. High expression of shovel-shaped incisors, Caravelli’s cusp, high frequency of shovel-shaped teeth, and low expression of distal trigonid crest differ from finfish. The Obi-Ugrians are characterized by the appearance of high shovel-shaped incisors and the distal trigonid crest, which is not high, and the characteristics of the northern Mongoloids of North Mansi and North Khanti remain strong.
