유관순 열사 유적의 천안(天案)8경(景) 재선정과 지속 가능한 활성화 방안 연구

본 연구는 천안8경에 재선정된 유관순 열사 유적을 중심으로 천안8경이 지속할 수 있게 활성화하는 방안을 연구목적으로 삼았다. 이런 측면을 고려하여 유관순 및 3․1운동에 관한 일반 대중의 인식을 활성화하는 방안으로 우선 천안8경으로 재선정된 유관순 열사 유적과 연계하는 방안이 훨씬 더 효율적이라고 판단하였다. 본 연구는 단지 지명도 부족과 관광 여건의 변화에 따른 홍보전략용으로 급조, 지정된 다른 지역의 사례 지정에 따른 문제의식에서 출발하여 천안의 관광 문화자원의 대부분이 독립운동과 관련되어 있다는 사실에 착안하였다. 이에 따라 익히 알려진 ‘유관순 열사’와 독립기념관 천안의 역사문화 자원이 갖는 지명도 등의 후광효과를 통해 활성화되지 못한 유관순 열사 유적과 관련된 천안 2경 관광콘텐츠의 형식과 내용을 검토하여 지속 가능한 활성화 방안이라는 유관순 열사 유적 경관콘텐츠의 활성화 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 유관순 열사 유적의 자연문화 경관을 공간적 텍스트화하여 시간적으로 현재화하기 위한 틀 짜기 (framing)와 켜 짜기(layering)를 시도하여 첫째, 유관순 열사와 연계된 관련 축제와 추모제 행사 개최로 극대화, 둘째, 유관순 열사 교육관과 연계한 다양한 체험교육프로그램 운영, 셋째, 유관순 열사와 함께하는 메타버스 및 VR 축제 개최, 넷째, 유관순 열사 관련 뮤지컬, 전시박람회, 사진전, 음악회 등 개최, 다섯째, 유관순 열사를 모티브로 한 캐릭터 비즈니스로 활성화, 여섯째, 백석대학교 유관순연구소 주최 학술대회와 연계하는 방안을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 연구결과에도 불구하고 유관순 열사 유적 관련 활성화 방안을 위한 실증분석이 이루어지지 않은 점과 심도 있는 내용분석이 이루어지지 않은 한계가 있다. 이에 향후 연구는 실증분석과 더불어 천안8경 전체와 연계되는 활성화 방안을 제시하기를 기대한다. The purpose of this study is to revitalize the Cheonan 8 Scenes so that they can continue, focusing on the remains of martyr Yu Gwan-soon, which was re-selected as one of the 8 Scenes of Cheonan. Considering this aspect, a plan to activate public awareness of Yu Gwan-soon and the March First Independence Movement was proposed. It was judged that it would be much more efficient to link it with the remains of martyr Yu Gwan-soon, which was re-selected as one of the eight scenic spots in Cheonan. This study focuses on the fact that most of Cheonan's tourism and cultural resources are related to the independence movement. Accordingly, through the halo effect, such as the well-known martyr Yu Gwan-sun and the popularity of the historical and cultural resources of the Independence Hall of Cheonan, we tried to promote the remains of martyr Yu Gwan-sun, who were not active. In particular, the format and contents of the contents related to the martyr Yu Gwan-soon were reviewed to present a sustainable revitalization plan. As a result, first, we tried to maximize it by holding related festivals and memorial events related to the martyr Yu Gwan-soon. Second, the operation of various experiential education programs in connection with the Yu Gwan-soon Martyr Education Center was proposed. Third, it was proposed to hold a metabus and VR festival with martyr Gwansun Yu. Fourth, it was proposed to hold musicals, exhibitions, photo exhibitions, and concerts related to the martyr Yu Gwan-soon. Fifth, it was proposed to vitalize the character business with the martyr Yu Gwan-soon as a motif. Sixth, a plan to connect with the academic conference hosted by the Yu Gwan-soon Research Institute at Baekseok University was deduced. Despite the results of this study, it is hoped that future research will conduct an empirical analysis and an in-depth analysis of content for the revitalization plan related to the martyr Yu Gwan-soon.

‘유관순학’ 강좌를 통한 유관순 열사의 역사적 위치와 사상적 계승 - 수강 전후 인식 변화를 중심으로

본 연구는 한국 독립운동의 대표적인 인물이자 비폭력 저항의 상징인 유관순 열사의 삶과 사상을 중심으로, ‘유관순학’ 강좌의 교육적 효과를 분석하고 청년 세대의 역사 인식과 시민 의식 제고에 기여하는 바를 실증적으로 고찰하고자 하였다. 유관순은 17세의 나이에 식민 권력에 맞서 비폭력 저항을 실천한 인물로서, 단순한 과거의 영웅을 넘어 현대교육 현장에서 활용 가능한 인문학적 콘텐츠로 재조명될 수 있는 인물이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 ‘비폭력 저항’, ‘여성 인권’, ‘종교 윤리’, ‘청년리더십’이라는 네 가지 핵심 키워드를 중심으로 유관순의 생애를 재해석하고, 평화 및 인권 교육의 플랫폼으로서 ‘유관순학’ 강좌의 확장가능성을 모색하였다. 연구는 백석문화대학교 생명윤리위원회의 심의를 거쳐(승인번호: 제2-7008132-A-N-01호. 25-01), 2025년 3월부터 6월까지 충남 천안시에 소재한 B대학교 재학생 68명을 대상으로 유관순학 수강 전후의 설문조사를 실시하고, 이를 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수강 이후 학생들의 역사에 대한 흥미와 학습 동기, 그리고 독립운동 관련 지식이 통계적으로 유의미하게 향상되었다. 둘째, 유관순의 종교적 신념과 독립운동 간의 연계성에 대한 이해가 심화되었으며, 해당 강좌의 교육적 필요성에 대한 공감도 역시 크게 증가하였다. 셋째, 유관순의 역사적 상징성에 대한 인식은 ‘희생’과 ‘애국’이라는 개념을 중심으로 강화되었고, 일제의 식민지 통치제도에 대한 이해 역시 확장되었다. 넷째, 3·1운동과 종교 간의 관계에 대한 인식이 다층적으로 제고되었으며, 유관순의 옥중 투쟁에 대한 이해도 긍정적으로 유지되었다. 다섯째, 3·1운동의 세계사적 파급효과와 여성 독립운동가의 역할에 대한 인식 역시 유의미하게 향상되었으나, 식민지 교육정책과 구국계몽운동에 대한 이해는 상대적으로 낮은 상승폭을 보였다. 종합적으로 볼 때, 유관순학 강좌는 청년 세대의 역사적 감수성과 시민적 책임 의식을 함양하는 데 효과적인 인물 중심 역사교육 모델로 기능하고 있으며, 나아가 평화교육의 현대적 플랫폼으로서 지속적인 확장 가능성을 내포하고 있다. 이러한 교육적 시도는 한국 독립운동의 세계사적 의미를 재조명하는 동시에, 지속 가능한 평화 공동체 형성을 위한 학술적 기반을 마련하는 데 중요한 의의를 지닌다. This study aims to empirically examine the educational impact of the course “Yu Gwan-sun Studies,” which focuses on the life and philosophy of Yu Gwan-sun, a leading figure in Korea’s independence movement and a symbol of nonviolent resistance. Yu Gwan-sun, who practiced nonviolent protest against colonial rule at the age of 17, is reinterpreted not merely as a historical figure but as a valuable source of humanistic content applicable in contemporary education. To this end, the study reinterprets her life through four core keywords-nonviolent resistance, women’s rights, religious ethics, and youth leadership-and explores the potential of the “Yu Gwan-sun Studies” course as a platform for peace and human rights education. The research was conducted in accordance with the ethical guidelines of Baekseok Culture University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB No. 2-7008132- A-N-01. 25-01). From March to June 2025, a pre- and post-course survey was administered to 68 undergraduate students enrolled in the course at a university located in Cheonan, Chungnam Province. The findings are as follows: First, students’ interest in history, motivation to learn, and knowledge of the independence movement showed statistically significant improvement after taking the course. Second, students demonstrated an increased understanding of Yu Gwan-sun’s religious convictions and their connection to the independence movement, along with a greater appreciation for the necessity of such educational programs. Third, perceptions of Yu Gwan-sun’s symbolic meaning were strengthened, particularly around themes of “sacrifice” and “patriotism,” and students’ understanding of colonial governance systems also expanded. Fourth, awareness of the role of religion in the March 1st Movement—particularly Christianity, Daejonggyo, and Buddhism-deepened, and perceptions of Yu’s imprisonment and suffering remained positive. Fifth, recognition of the global impact of the March 1st Movement and the role of female independence activists improved significantly, although understanding of colonial educational policies and the Enlightenment movement showed a relatively modest increase. Overall, the “Yu Gwan-sun Studies” course functions as an effective educational model that fosters students’ historical sensitivity and civic responsibility. It contributes to identity formation, value-based education, and critical thinking through a biographical approach to history. Furthermore, the course demonstrates potential as a modern platform for peace education. Ultimately, this initiative offers meaningful academic value by reilluminating the global significance of Korea’s independence movement and laying a foundation for building a sustainable culture of peace.

성경적 관점에 본 유관순 열사의 평화정신 연구

유관순 열사는 한국의 여성 독립운동가로서 그 의미가 더욱 크게 빛나고 있다. 특히, 유관순 열사는 단순히 독립운동을 넘어서 평화와 자유의 본질을 몸소 실천하며 목숨을 바친 상징적인 인물이었기 때문이다. 유관순 열사의 삶과 투쟁은 단순히 일제 강점기 한국의 독립을 위한 것이 아니라, 인간 존엄성과 진정한 평화의 가치를 위한 것이었다. 이에 본 연구는 유관순 열사의 고귀한 평화정신을 성경 관점에서심층적으로 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 두었다. 특히, 본 연구는 성경에서 제시하는 평화의 개념을 중심으로 유관순 열사의 삶을 분석하고, 그의 희생과 신앙이 한국 사회에 주는 의미를 조명하고자 한다. 본 연구는 성경 관점의 평화정신을 고찰하고자 했고, 유관순 열사가 그렇게 갈망했던 비폭력 독립투쟁의 평화운동이 성공을 거두어 현재의 평화상태를 유지하고 있다는 점을 심층적으로 고찰하고자 했다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 관련 선행연구 등을 집중적으로 분석하는 문헌 고찰을 시행했다. 그 결과, 유관순 열사의 평화정신과 성경적 평화정신은 첫째, 하나님 중심의 평화를 추구한다는 점이다. 둘째, 정의 없이는 평화가 없다는 둘 사이의 연결 관점이다. 셋째, 비폭력적 저항과 평화의 관점이다. 넷째, 고난 속에서도 지킨 내적 평화의 관점이다. 다섯째, 인간 존엄성과 자유를 위한 투쟁의 관점이다. 여섯째, 희생을 통한 평화의 실현 관점이다. 마지막으로 평화의 종말론적 비전 관점이다. 이러한 본 연구의 결과, 시사점으로 유관순 열사의 평화정신이 주는 교훈을 적용해보면 첫째, 정의와 평화의 관계를 재인식할 수 있다는 점이다. 둘째, 고난 속에서도 희망과 평안은 존재한다는 점이다. 셋째, 희생의 의미와 공동체를 위한 헌신이 필요하다는 점이다. 넷째, 세계적 평화운동과의 연계성이다. Yu Gwan-sun is a shining symbol of Korea’s independence movement, particularly as a female independence activist. Her significance extends beyond the mere pursuit of national independence; she embodied the essence of peace and freedom, ultimately sacrificing her life for these ideals. Yu Gwan-sun’s life and struggle were not solely for Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule but also for the universal values of human dignity and true peace. This study aims to deeply examine Yu Gwan-sun’s noble peace spirit from a biblical perspective. Specifically, it analyzes her life in the context of biblical peace and explores the meaning of her sacrifice and faith in Korean society. This research investigates the biblical perspective on peace and delves into how Yu Gwan-sun’s commitment to nonviolent resistance led to the achievement of peace in modern Korea. To accomplish this, the study employs a literature review focusing on related previous research. The findings reveal that Yu Gwan-sun’s peace spirit aligns with biblical peace in the following aspects: 1. The pursuit of God-centered peace. 2. The inseparable relationship between justice and peace. 3. The principle of nonviolent resistance and the perspective of peace. 4. The preservation of inner peace amid suffering. 5. The struggle for human dignity and freedom. 6. The realization of peace through sacrifice. 7. The eschatological vision of peace. Based on these findings, the study suggests the following implications: 1. A renewed understanding of the relationship between justice and peace. 2. The realization that hope and peace exist even in times of suffering. 3. The necessity of sacrifice and dedication to the community. 4. The global connection between Yu Gwan-sun’s peace movement and international peace initiatives.
