Vol.9 No.3
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact variables that influence achievement motivation among multicultural adolescents and to validate their effectiveness. This study sought to determine whether family support regulated the mediating relationship between accultration stress, social withdrawal, and achievement motivation in multicultural adolescents. It also sought to determine the mediating effect of social withdrawal in this relationship. In order to fulfill the objectives of this research, SPSS22.0 and PROCESS model 7 were utilized to analyze the data of 1,493 teenagers who took part in the National Youth Policy Institute's "Multicultural Adolescent Panel Study (MAPS)" survey in its second year (2012). The following are the study's findings. First, achievement motivation was inversely correlated with the stress of acculturation experienced by multicultural teenagers. Second, the relationship between achievement motivation and acculturation stress was mediated by the social disengagement of multicultural teenagers. Third, the mediation impact of acculturation stress on social withdrawal was mitigated by the supportive families of multicultural adolescents through social withdrawal. This study explored intervention ways to increase multicultural teenagers' motivation for accomplishment based on its findings.

We aimed to investigate the mechanism of brain damage in diet-induced obese (DIO) rats and diet-resistant (DR) rats from the viewpoint of redox state and nuclear related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling pathway. Sprague-Dawley rats were fed with a high-fat diet for 10 weeks to obtain the DIO and DR rats. d-Galactose was injected subcutaneously through the back of the neck for 10 weeks to establish oxidative stress model rats. Then, the ratio of reduced glutathione (GSH)/oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and the level of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in serum and brain tissue were measured by using enzymatic assay kits. The levels of cholecystokinin and peptide YY in the brain tissue were detected by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. In addition, the protein expression of Nrf2 and its downstream factors such as heme oxygenase 1, manganese superoxide dismutase, and NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) in the brain tissue were measured by Western blotting. In the brain of DIO rats, the level of GSH and ratio of GSH/GSSG were lower, whereas the GSH-Px concentration was higher compared with DR rats significantly. On the other hand, the GSSG level was higher in the serum of DIO rats compared with the DR rats. The oxidative stress state in the brain of DIO rats, but not in DR rats, were observed. In addition, the protein expressions of Nrf2 and NQO1 were downregulated in the brain of DR rats compared with that in DIO rats. Our data suggest that the Nrf2/NQO1 signaling pathway and redox state were involved in the pathogenesis of the rats prone to obesity, but not the DR rats resistant to obesity.

Quality characteristics of blended yarns, which play an important role in textile quality, are continually assessed by softness, breaking strength, breaking elongation, hairiness, irregularity, etc. In this study, hemp was softened and blended with other cellulose fibers with better softness to produce yarns. The softness of hemp is obviously lower than that of the other two fibers. With the increase of hemp fiber percentage content, the yarn properties deteriorated. Therefore, the softening treatment of hemp fiber is very necessary. Moreover, the blending hemp, cotton, and viscose in the yarn structure provided synergies, improving the weak properties of ternary fibers. Results show that softening treatment and lower percentage content of the hemp fiber will result in better yarn quality, which is consistent with the derivation result of the bending theoretical model. When the percentage content of treated hemp is 40 wt%, the overall performance of blended yarn is the best. Compared with the untreated hemp-based ternary blended yarns, the hairiness of blended yarn is significantly less (3.65 ends/m, compared to 12.23 ends/m), and the irregularity of yarn is lower (27.33% and 27.70%, respectively), yarn quality improved considerably. In addition, the resulting hemp yarn showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
