If the Korea-US FTA negotiation come to an end, it seems likely that because of the FTA chapters related to foreign investment protection, Korean government's capability and instruments to regulate and manage foreign speculative investment will become almost obsolete and in that circumstance, foreign speculative investors will enjoy and exploit unlimited freedom and over-protection in Korean financial and capital market. In other words, because of the possible conclusion of Korea-US FTA which will guarantee unlimited protection and freedom not only to productive investment but also to speculative investment, Korea will be dangerously exposed to international speculative capital without proper policy instruments and preparations protecting Korean economy. In order to support this argument, this paper starts with the review of current structure and content of foreign investment and summarizes core characteristics and conspicuous structural problems in Korea. And then, this paper scrutinizes US bilateral investment treaty's models(BIT 1994, and BIT 2004) containing almost the same investment clauses compared with Korea-US FTA investment chapters. Based on the fore-mentioned researches, this paper strongly argues that the conclusion of Korea-US FTA will seriously weaken and exacerbate Korean government's regulation and management policy on foreign speculative investment. This paper finishes with some policy suggestions alleviating the extent and intensity of bad effects which will be caused by Korea-US FTA agreement.

It has to be accepted that integrated education in social studies, which has been pursued for last 30 years, has now failed. In the field of social studies, integration education means a kind of coordinated study which unifies or synthesizes three separated academic disciplines such as general social studies, geography and history. However, it has to be emphasized that the policy making process of recently revised social studies curriculum(so-called ``2007 revised social studies curriculum``) has revealed various controversies and harsh conflict among education-related groups. And as a result, history part containing both national and world history has separated from middle school`s social studies textbook. In few years. social studies textbook will not contain history any longer. So it is hard to understand how integrated education in social studies can be sustained without history part. The major purpose of this paper is to argue that integrated education in social studies has now failed. This paper suggests seven major reasons explaining why integrated education cannot be sustained in social studies education.

Professor Chung In-Seop published a critical review article which revealed faults and errors occurred in the `High School Law and Politics` Textbook. In the same article Professor Chung also suggested detailed ways of improving textbook`s faults and errors. The purpose of this paper is to provide an answer to the article published by Professor Chung. In this article, I, as a writer of `chapter 6 Law and Politics of International Society` in the `High School Law and Politics` Textbook pressed by Geum-Sung Publisher, tried to answer the points of the article written by Professor Chung one by one and in detail. This paper is mainly composed of three parts. In the first part, this paper summarized textbook`s faults and errors indicated by Professor Chung and in the second part, this paper concretely reviewed the faults and errors argued by Professor Chung. In the review part, I accepted Professor Chung`s reasonable points and admitted my fault. But, against unacceptable points, I refuted the arguments made by Professor Chung and explained the reasons in a concrete way.

This paper investigates the historical changes of middle power states' trade strategy in international trade-related institutions such as the GATT and the WTO and tries to figure out the types and characteristics of middle power states. Especially, this paper emphasizes that economic ideology's convergence or divergence among the member states of international trade-related institutions strongly influences the level and extent of the development of the GATT and the WTO. This paper also argues that identities and economic ideologies of middle power states in international trade-related institutions have been constantly changed and will change again in the future. Korea has emerged as a new middle power state in terms of economic capability. Thus, the primary purpose of this paper is to present a pre-work which aims to lay a foundation for the further research focusing on Korea's new middle power trade policy.

After the outbreak of 9.11 terror, America's foreign security policy has changed its basis from the deterrence strategy to the preemptive strategy and this sudden change was obviously caused by the strengthened possibility of inter-connection between WMD proliferation and terror groups or terror supporting states. Preemptive strategy is divided into preemptive strike, preemptive war and the Proliferation Security Initiative(PSI). Among these preemptive actions, this paper intensively investigates the PSI. Especially, this paper introduces and explains highly controversial discussions on the international law related aspect of PSI and on the America's unilateralism in pursuing main objects of the PSI. In order to accomplish this research aims, this paper starts with the review of the articles of UNCLOS which are closely related with the PSI and illuminates both positive and negative evaluations on the PSI in greater detail. This paper also tries to investigate America's own logics and positions concerning the PSI interdiction to improve our understanding toward the PSI.

``Education for Democracy`` is a core part of democratic citizenship education. So far, among various types of democracies, liberal democracy and representative democracy have gained a dominant position in the education for democracy of the secondary school`s social studies education. However, it has to be reminded that liberal democracy and representative democracy have recently revealed their limitations related to social inequality and representative problem. Consequently, other types of democracies criticizing and supplementing liberal democracy and representative democracy have been strongly emphasized and demanded. In this situation, there has been a constant request to reform the education for democracy in order to overcome the limits of today`s education for democracy which are solely focused on liberal democracy and representative democracy. This paper argues that in order to fulfill this request of reform, secondary school`s education for democracy has to be reorganized to include various types of democracies instead of narrowly focusing on liberal democracy and representative democracy.
