In this study, the effects of normalizing temperature on the charpy impact toughness of SNCM 220 steel has been investigated. With the result of the normalizing treatment in wide ranges of temperatures, the specimen is changed into coarse perlite and ferrite. There is a huge difference in the Hv of the specimen in the temperatures for normalizing treatment. The experiment showed that there was a uniform degree of hardness in the temperature range of 870℃∼900℃. As the temperature for the normalizing treatment increases, there is a tendency that impact energy is decreased. At 930℃, it showed notably low level of energy. The reason for this seems to be because of the influences of the size of the crystal particle of austenite in high temperature. The fracture surfaces of the specimen appear to be a combination of characteristics of brittle fracture and ductile fracture in U-notch and V-notch specimens, also shear lips and river patterns are observed.

This study was to analyze to the fatigue behavior of the materials of structual carbon steel(SM 17C).The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows. The formation of the microcracks is ; (1) That degree of microcracks is 30˚∼40˚, (2) That microcracks formed center of the ferrite matrix. (3) that microcracks has the incubation period. (4) after the microcracks formed in center of the ferrite matrix appear non-propagating the grain boundary at the adjacent pearlite matrix. The microcracks has the tendency to form earlier in the specimen with larger grain size and transgranular cracks
