Enhanced stability and viability of Bifidobacterium through optimized vitamin-based coating

Maintaining probiotic viability during storage, freeze-drying, and gastrointestinal transit is essential to ensure efficacy. The present study evaluated VitaShield Coating® (VSC), an innovative stabilization technology incorporating vitamins A, C, and E, for enhancing the viability of Bifidobacterium strains. VSC-coated B. bifidum BGN4 exhibited a significantly higher freeze-drying recovery rate (43.91±4.69%) compared to that of the uncoated group (15.31±6.53%, p<0.0001), with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirming preservation of structural integrity. Gastrointestinal stability also improved, as coated cells retained 26.21±2.41% viability in simulated gastric fluid, significantly outperforming uncoated cells (3.20±2.30%, p<0.0001). Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) revealed a significant increase in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in coated cells, indicating enhanced membrane stability. Furthermore, storage stability of four Bifidobacterium strains (AD011, BORI, BGN4, and RAPO) was evaluated over 16 weeks at 25℃ and 30℃. The findings indicate that the VSC coating effectively protects probiotic strains under harsh storage conditions, mitigating viability loss over time. Overall, this study showed that the VSC coating serves as a multifunctional stabilization technology that provides mechanical, osmotic, and oxidative stress protection. Its ability to improve probiotic survival under harsh conditions enables its practical and scalable use in formulations and enhances stability.

Analysis of Biogenic Amines in Fermented Fish Products Consumed in Korea

The aim of this study was to investigate the biogenic amine (BA) contents of fermented fish foods in Korea. A total of 47 samples of anchovy and sand lance sauces and squid, clam, and shrimp pastes were used for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. The histamine and tyramine contents of the anchovy and sand lance sauces were significantly high. The average histamine contents of all tested samples were >300 mg/kg and the histamine contents were higher in the sauce (aekjeot) samples than in the paste (jeotgal) samples. This result strongly suggests careful monitoring of BA contents in these products is necessary to ensure consumer health.

공정 컬럼의 감마선 스캔 방법(ISO 23159:2020) 해설

감마선 스캐닝은 공정 컬럼의 가동 중 발생하는 다양한 문제의 해결을 위한 진단 목적으로 석유화학 및 정유공정에서 널리 사용되는 비간섭 및 비파괴 공정진단 방법이다. 해당 기술은 감마선 투과 계측기술을 기반으로 가동 중인 컬럼 및 반응기의 중단 없이 내부 상태 정보를 제공한다. 본 고는 2020년 6월에 제정된 “비파괴 검사-공정 컬럼의 감마선 스캔 방법”(ISO 23159: 2020)을 번역한 것으로 본래 취지를 정확히 전달하기 위하여 편집하거나 가감하지 않고 원문 그대로 기술하였다. 이 표준은 감마선 스캔 방법 이외에도 검사 인력의 권고사항, 밀봉방사선원 선택방법, 스캐닝 장비, 실제 접할 수 있는 현상에 대한 예시 등의 부속서를 포함한다. Gamma ray scanning is a non-intrusive and non-destructive method used extensively in petrochemical and chemical process plants for troubleshooting and diagnosis purposes. Gamma ray scanning provides the internal state information without interruption of columns and reactors in operations that are based on gamma ray transmission measurement. This study translates the “Non-destructive testing – Gamma ray scanning method on process columns” (ISO 23159:2020) published in June 2020 by explaining the original text without editing. In addition to gamma ray scanning methods, this standard includes annexes, such as, a recommendation for testing personnel, selection of sealed radiation sources, scanning equipment, and phenomena that may be encountered in practice.

세계무형문화유산 남사당의 덧뵈기 미학

The purpose of this study is in order to figure out the aesthetic points of Namsadang Deotboegi, which is appointed as “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”. In order to realize the philosophical meanings and values we have studied the origin of the word “Deotboegi” by expanding its meanings to the beauty of word, exaggeration, creativity of the theatrics, and to the aesthetic sense of the deotboegi: the followings are the results after the research. First, the origin of the words used in Namsadang, includes connotative meanings like jargon. It implies that the public willingness and the perspective to create the social consensus and democratic characteristics of traditional mask dance. Second, the composition of exaggeration contains the recognition and critique toward the objects. It is the task that should be solved realistically, containing the wish of creating and integrating democratic energy and in terms of the connection structure of Deotboegi, the last actor of the former play remains and connects to the next exaggeration. Fourth, the implied musician plays a role as connecting each play. Third, Deotboegi has acquired and integrated the existing mask dance and actively accepted the unique performance artistic patterns. For this reason, it pursues its own unique aesthetics of Deotboegi, while other mask dances do not. Fourth, the theatrical structure of Deotboegi is expressed through the number ‘4’ and ‘12’. Through this number, the beginning and the ending connects to each other to be repeated and circulated continuously. It eliminates the conflict structure with materialized concepts of the community’s survival and peace. As well, it includes the philosophy and idea of Namsadang, which emphasizes the unity accompanied with the order and harmony. 이 연구는 세계무형문화유산 남사당의 덧뵈기에 내재된 미적 탐색을 목적으로 철학적 의미와 가치를 구현하고자 덧뵈기의 어원에 나타난 미, 과장 구성미, 연희의 독창미, 연결미, 덧뵈기의 미적사상 등으로 확대하여 그 의미를 탐색해 보았고, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 덧뵈기에 나타난 어원은 남사당패에서 사용되는 은어와 같이 함축적 의미를 지닌 것으로, 탈놀이가 지니는 민중적 성격과 공동체적 삶의 공감대를 형성하고자 하는 민중의 의지이자, 시선을 내재하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 과장의 구성은 대상에 대한 인식과 비판의식을 담은 것으로 현실적으로 풀어야할 과제로 민중적인 에너지를 창출해내고 집약시키는 바람을 담고 있었고, 덧뵈기의 연결 구조는 극의 진행을 마지막 배우가 남아서 다음 과장까지 이어서 연결하거나, 악사의 연결구조가 내재되어 극과 극을 이어주는 연결 구조를 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 덧뵈기는 기존의 가면무를 융합습득하고 자신들이 지니고 있는 독특한 공연예술양식을 적극적으로 수용함으로써 다른 가면극에서 볼 수 없는 덧뵈기만의 독창적인 미(美)를 추구하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 덧뵈기의 연희구조는 숫자 ‘4’와 ‘12’를 통하여 처음과 끝이 하나로 반복, 순환하는 지속적인 연희 구조로 공동체의 안녕과 생존을 구체화시킨 관념을 통하여 대립구조를 제거하고, 질서와 조화 속에 통일성을 강조한 남사당패의 철학과 사상이 담겨 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

돕는 배필의 목적 : 장년 교육의 패러다임으로서 성경적 결혼관에 대한 고찰

한국 사회는 현재 결혼관에 있어서 급격한 변화의 시대를 겪고 있다. 전통적인 가 족과 결혼에 대한 생각은 더 이상 넓게 통용되지 않는다. 교회 안에서도 이러한 급격 한 결혼관의 변화로 여러 가지 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구는 창세기 2장에 나타난 남녀의 창조 과정과 하나님의 명령을 연구함으로 결혼을 통해서 드러나는 하나님의 목적과 이를 바탕으로 하는 성경적 결혼관을 연구 한다. 다른 모든 창조물처럼, 남자와 여자도 하나님의 영광을 위해서 창조되었다. 남 자와 여자가 결혼 관계 안에서 서로 돕는 가운데 해야 하는 일은 서로의 행복을 위하 는 것이기 보다는 하나님이 목적이 우선되어야 하며, 하나님의 영광을 위한 것이어야 한다. 성경은 남자와 여자가 반드시 서로 도와서 해야 하는 일로 둘이 한 몸을 이루는 것을 제시한다. (창 2:24) 둘이 한 몸을 이루는 것은 남자 혼자서는 절대로 할 수 없 는 일이며, 동물들과 공유되는 속성도 아니다. 따라서 둘이 하나가 되는 것은 남자와 여자를 따로 그리고 다르게 창조하신 하나님의 목적이라고 볼 수 있다. 남자와 여자가 서로 도와야 하는 것은 둘이 한 몸이 되는 관계를 통하여서 예수 그리스도의 사랑과 복종을 연습하여, 그리스도와 한 몸이 되는 것이다. 다시 말해서 하나님과의 관계가 발전하는 것이다. 이것은 신앙의 성숙이요 영적 성장이다. 이러한 성경적 결혼관이 장년 결혼 교육의 목표로 제시되기를 기대한다. 하나님을 향해서 함께 나아가는, 그래서 하나님의 도우심을 받고 하나님의 은혜를 함께 누리는 결혼 관계에 대한 교육이 필요하다. This article argues that the relationship between marriage and Christian education. In the Bible, marriage is ordained by God and it is used as a metaphor to explain the relationship between God and His people, and Jesus and His church. Therefore, the purpose of marriage is not just for human happiness, but for the Lord. Spiritual formation is the final goal of the Christian life, which God has granted to His people for the relationship between the Lord and His people. The scriptural evidence suggests a common foundation between marriage and spiritual formation: both are established by God and Bound to the relationship between the Lord and His people. This article examines the complementary relationship between marriage and spiritual formation and isolate the common characteristics to demonstrate a common paradigm for marriage and spiritual formation. As a result, marriage and spiritual formation have common ground based on Scripture: planed by God, established for God, and glorifying God. As well, it would be presented that marriage serves as a means of and for the basis of a paradigm for Christian spiritual formation.
